Travelling the world on a shoestring budget?
My entire life I’ve fantasized about taking off to travel the world, and I’ve decided that after years of daydreaming and flipping through about a thousand guide books, it’s time to let my wanderlust take over. I plan to travel on a shoestring, and keep everything I need in my backpack. My question is, have you ever experienced backpacking the world on a small budget? How much did it cost you and how long did you go for? Was there ever any opportunity to make money while on the road? Any advice is deeply appreciated, thank you.

This is the site of Hostelling International. Backpackers are welcomed. Your membership is valid for 1 year and you can usually adjust the length of your stay to suit your needs and the staff will help with a booking at your next port of call. Cost is usually about 18 Euros pppn.
